Corrections Policy — FALQ Press
FALQ Press is committed to accuracy, transparency and accountability. Our readers help us maintain the integrity of our reporting; when we make a substantive error we correct it promptly, explain what changed and why, and keep a public record of corrections.
How to report an error
- Email [email protected] with the article URL, a clear description of the error and any supporting evidence or sources.
- Or use our contact form at https://falqpress.com/contact/.
- You may identify yourself or request anonymity; we will respect confidentiality where requested.
Internal review process
1. Receipt and acknowledgement: Every report is logged and acknowledged, normally within one business day.
2. Triage: A corrections editor assesses urgency (legal, safety, factual). Items posing immediate risk are escalated for immediate action.
3. Verification: The corrections team reviews original reporting, sources and documents, and consults the author and relevant editors.
4. Decision: Where verification shows an error, the corrections editor determines the appropriate remedy (correction, clarification, update, retraction). Sensitive or legally significant cases are reviewed by senior editors or the editor‑in‑chief.
5. Implementation and notification: Approved changes are implemented in the published piece and the reporting party is informed of the outcome.
What we correct and how corrections appear
- Significant factual errors, misleading statements, incorrect dates/names/quotes, and errors affecting public understanding are corrected openly. Corrections appear both in the article itself and on our corrections log.
- In-article practice: We update the text, add a clearly labeled correction or editor’s note at the top or bottom of the story describing what was changed and why, and include the date and time of the correction.
- Silent edits: Minor typographical fixes, grammar or formatting adjustments that do not change meaning may be made without a public note.
- Retractions and removals: We do not remove the published record except in narrow circumstances (legal requirement, safety risk, or demonstrable harm). Retractions require editorial sign-off and will be accompanied by a clear explanation.
Timelines
- Acknowledgement: typically within one business day.
- Routine factual corrections: aimed to be completed within 48 hours of verification.
- Complex investigations or legal reviews: may take up to 10 business days; we will update the reporting party on progress.
- Urgent safety/legal corrections: implemented immediately when necessary.
Recordkeeping We maintain an accessible corrections log documenting significant corrections and retractions to preserve the integrity of the public record.
